Prostaderm is all natural. It improves sexual function by bringing energy, nutrients and blood to the genitals. This effect builds over time your performance continues to improve. So does your health. There is a boost and buildup of sexual health and strength. Things get better and better. Erections develop quicker and stronger, ejaculate is fuller, and orgasm more satisfying.
There are many products in the market claiming to be herbal or natural sexual stimulants or enhancers. Some of these claim to help prostatitis as well. Most of them have some serious drawbacks.
For one, most herbs don't get to the place in your body where they can do what they claim. They're broken down in the stomach. The increased doses needed to counteract this can be toxic to your liver and kidneys. If there are other liver stresses or diabetic issues, this can work to make your original sexual problems worse.
Perhaps more importantly, many of these products claiming to have a natural Viagra effect actually contain the same chemical ingredients that are in Viagra (Sildenafil citrate), Cialis (Tadalafil), Levitra (Vardenafil). A favorite hidden drug is Tadalifil because its effect is long lasting. If you're medically advised not to use these drugs, then these products can be very dangerous. They are particularly to be avoided if there are circulatory problems, heart disease, hypertension or the use of nitrates. They can also cause flushing, headaches, back pain and other side effects. You can find out about some of these products on a FDA (Food and Drug Administration) site here.
Some products use herbs which are known to be unsafe, toxic or ineffective.
Saw Palmetto, often touted as an herbal treatment for preventing and treating an enlarging prostate, and so keeping your sex life healthy, doesn't stand up under empirical testing. Oakland, Calif. February 8th, 2006 - Kaiser Permanente study shows Saw Palmetto not effective at relieving prostate problems. The herbal remedy saw palmetto is no more effective than a placebo at treating symptoms related to enlargement of the prostate gland, according to a new study in the Feb. 9th issue of the New England Journal of Medicine."
The herb Xanthoparmelia scarbrosa used to increase blood flow to the penis is toxic even at low doses.
Spanish Fly used to increase arousal reactions, contains cantharidin. The cantharides excreted in the urine, irritate the urethra, causing inflammation in the genitals and therefore blood flow to the penis. It's one way to get an erection. But more than the small very small amount needed is very dangerous. The irritation caused by the cantherides can cause painful urination, fever, and sometimes bloody discharge. It can cause permanent damage to the kidneys and genitals.
Some products use the amino acids L-Arginine and /or L-Citrulline to help dilate blood vessels. These can be obtained quite cheaply in a Health food store but they don't just go to the genitals and create erections. These amino acids are part of the normal production of Nitric Oxide and are found in your diet normally. More of them just helps you make sure the Nitric Oxide cycle is working well.
Yohimbe in any effective strength is equivalent to massive doses of caffeine so it can cause heart palpitations and insomnia. Most yohimbe supplements contain "none" of the genuine active ingredient yohimbine.
Medical Drugs
Flomax, Cardura, Minipress, Hytrin, UroXatral are pharmaceuticals called alpha-adenergic blockers. They cause blood vessles to relax and expand. This effect relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate. But the side effects can be dangerous. By relaxing the smooth muscles and dilating arteries, alpha blockers can cause a marked lowering of blood pressure, especially when you stand up. Some people can pass out when this happens. Other side effects reported are allergic reactions which include difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, hives, painful prolonged erections and severe dizziness.
Proscar and Propecia are enzyme inhibitors that inhibit the production of the hormone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Propecia prevents the conversion of testosterone to DHT. DHT is involved in the development of BPH. Side effects can include the same allergic reactions as Flomax and it's equivalents, and also decreased libido, decreased volume of ejaculate, ED, breast tenderness or enlargement.
Viagra, Cialis and Levitra are all enzyme blockers, each doing that a little differently. It is very dangerous to use these drugs if you have a history of heart disease, or use nitrates including nitroglycerin in tablets, sprays, ointments or pastes or recreational drugs amly nitrate or butyl nitrate (poppers) or stimulants like cocaine. These can lead to major heart problems. Also they can not be used with alpha-blockers. Your blood pressure could suddenly drop to an unsafe level. They also cannot be used safely if you have liver or kidney problems. Click here for a complete listing.
